Ile d'Orleans

Not far away from Quebec City is a large island, Ile d'Orleans possessing a wide variety of cheesemakers and vineyards and the like. We rented a car in the city and 15 minutes later we were on the island where a conspicuously placed cow greeted us at the welcome center:

We wandered quite a bit around the grounds of La Seigneurie de l'Ile d'Orleans:







There were numerous songbirds flitting about but they were very shy so hard to photograph. This is my best shot:











There were tons of bikes on the island. The loop around the island is 66 km so experienced riders can do it in a day.


We had some excellent fried cheese samples at the Fromagerie:



Later we stopped at a pub and had some lunch including some microbrews and local sausages:



We purchased some currant-related items at Cassis Mona et Filles:





When we got back into town we had dinner and made a quick friend on the way home:
